Air Conditioner Repair

The drywall & paint are peeling off and I can see the cement underneath it, can someone give me instructions as to how I could go about repairing it or a website I can go to?

I feel so down right now…

So, the air conditioning tech just told me I could pay k for a compressor or purchase a new unit – my current non-functional unit is only 3 yrs old?!?

Yesterday, my lights went out out of the blue. So, I flip the breaker and called the electric company to explain what happened. They stated they were not aware of any outages in my area – so I went along with my day. A few hours later I noticed the house was warm – the air conditioner was on inside the house however, the air blowing out of the vents was warm. I began to get nervous cause this has never happened before. I went outside and noticed the unit was not on…so I went back to the breaker and flipped the air conditioner breaker and the all the lights in the house went out except for the outside unit….hmmm.

I retried flipping the breakers again to see if the same thing would happen and it did….
So, I had the main breaker and a/c breaker replaced – so far the lights have not gone off.

I called for a/c repair because for 4-5 hrs straight cool air was still blowing out w/o getting cold even though the unit outside and inside was working.

So the a/c tech said the unit was not under warranty bec I had not maintained my annual cleaning – wtf? I checked the contract I signed and it does state that – so it is my fault but the compressor should not have gone out in 3 yrs.

Any suggestions or recommendations?

During this time I really don’t have the “extra” money to buy another air conditioner…hopefully fall will come soon….

How much should compressors costs? What type of person should repair or replace a compressor?

The repair man said we needed a 3 ton heat pump, 3 ton a coil, 30 ft line set, pad drain ect and to remove the existing system all for 93. Now he says he can replace the motor and clean the coils and filters for 00. Is this reasonable?

I’ve had a dying air conditioner for the last 2 months. It’s gotten progressively worse, all the while we have been asking the property manager to fix it. We have had 4 different workers come in on 4 different occasions to fix it. They all give lame excuses as to why it wont work, like a dirty filter. It’s still as broken as it was, now the property manager wont answer my calls. My electricity bill has been around from 200-245 month for the last two months, it’s normally 85. What can i do for myself what are my rights?

A while back when got 4 Windows for our house. I signed the papers for the loan on the
Windows. Later on when I try refinance the house, I discovered that I could not refinance
because the loan on the Windows was a lean against the house. I paid off the Windows loan.
So my question is, what things that can be put as a lean against the house? Are they
like home repair for example, Air Conditioner repair, would that loan be a lien against the house?

Old AC unit is apparently leaking freon gas and the cost to repair will be very high compared to the 12 year old age of the unit. Looking at getting some quotes at replacing the unit, however i would like to know what the approximate budget of similar HE units prior to meeting with the dastardly sales reps. I am also a sales guy so I know how slimy they/we can be.

I recently changed my condenser fan, but it wasn’t to the correct specification. In fact, the horsepower and rpm was just under par compared to the previous expired part that I had. I’d consulted the air conditioning repair man about it and he told me it should be just fine, as the alternative was much more expensive than I could afford (the original brand name part replacement in addition to labor would of cost me 0) . But now, since it’s summer, my air conditioning runs but doesn’t seem to be cooling efficiently. (I usually set the thermostat at 83, but the house temperature seems to stay constant at 86 and continues to run all day until the evening hits). So, is it my condenser fan that’s insufficient or is it something else, like deficient freons? And also, my electric bill came out to an outlandish 0. I live in phoenix, AZ so it’s expected that the bill would soar during the summer months, but not at that rate. Do you think because the air conditioner is always on, it’s dragging the electricity?

I had an accident recently and the bonnet of the car got damaged, so that needs replacing. One of the headlights also needs to be replaced, and the radiator and air conditioner might need some repair work too.

Does anyone have a rough estimate, In AUD as to how much this might cost to repair? I just want to know, to figure out if the car is gonna be a write-off. The car is a 2000 model Ford Futura btw.

I’m trying to figure out if my recently-repaired A/C is working. I have a 2500 square-foot split-level house in which the A/C was just repaired 2 days ago (I was away when it was repaired, so I don’t know how hot it was–over 85 degrees, I would guess). Last night, the house was still running at about 80 degrees, and this morning it is around 75. I’m not sure if the drop in temperature is due to night-time cooling, or the proper functioning of the A/C. Does anyone have an educated guess as to how long it takes to lower the temperature in a house such as mine? Thanks very much!

Also, it keeps spitting out water. I tried tilting it back more like everyone said, but its still not working. What should I do, do I need to repair it? And how much do you think it would cost?

This is an AC I had mounted into my window btw.

I have 100K miles on my honda accord and never had any issues with the a/c. But now it is not blowing any air. Does it need a recharge or what is the most likely issue?
Also what is the repair cost?

I was driling a hole in the bottom of my window AC unit to keep the water drained when the drill broke thru the bottom the drill bit broke and I rammed it into one of the condensor tubes and put a pin hole in it. I am going to repair the puncture with silver solder and have the unit recharged. Will it hurt to turn the unit upside down to make the repair. All the freon came out when I punctured the tube and I wasnt sure if turning the unit upside down would damage the compressor. Will It damage the compressor?

Our home warranty requires us to use an air-conditioning repair company that so far has been somewhat dishonest and has not done good work. I just found out the repair people’s company has a BBB rating of F, which has me concerned. Is there a place online that I can look to see if this company is legitimate, if they are even licensed to work on air conditioners? Is there some special certificate they have to have or something?

My House’s Air conditioner is busted. I brought in a guy to try and fixed it and he said that it was to damaged and that it might cost 2,000 to repair it.

This guy came and worked on their air conditioner and replaced the fan motor, it runs all the time and the only way to turn it off is to throw the breaker.The motor is now duct taped in place and he will not take our phone calls. Now they are out 345.00.

Our air conditioner is not working and we don’t have 00 to fix it but could pay in installments.

Is there a reputable HVAC repair company in middle Tennessee that has payment plan options? I haven’t been able to find one through Google.

The outside unit is a mismatch for the one in the attic. I’ve had two professionals from two companies tell me that. So, we have to get a new one.

I have a window air conditioner that’s about 6,000 BTUs. It’s probably about five years old.

When I turn it on (on fan, energy saver, or cool), it’s making a really loud noise. It sounds almost like when your car engine sputters. I haven’t tried to run it for more than a minute or two, it really sounds bad, like it’s going to explode or something, so I’m not sure if the compressor’s working, but the air on cool doesn’t feel any cooler than the air on fan.

I’ve had bugs come through it before; do you think there’s a nest or something in there that’s causing the noise? (Stink bugs are constantly crawling out of it, and I had a wasp’s nest in between the two window panes last year.)

A replacement model is going to cost around 0, so any repairs I can’t do myself are going to cost more than the unit’s worth.

It works fine, but it gather icing all over it from the inside, I hve no idea what that is. This is the one that is placed in an open window. You buy them over the counter at any store. Thanks

How do i fix my air conditioner? ITS SO HOTTT!?
the other day, my air conditioning pretty much stopped working. it turns on and blows very little, not cold, air. it is 90 degrees in my house and i dont know what to do! i also dont want to spend 0 for a repair man if there is a cheaper way. i took out the filters and nothing happened…i have also turned it off and back on a few times. i un plugged it from the wall outside as well. if you can help me, i will love you forever!!!
